The construction of this new mixed-use residential development in White Rock, BC was managed by Macron construction, with the excavation and shoring completed by Hall Constructors. Contaminated soil was encountered at the outset of the 14,000 m3 excavation and sent to a remediation facility for proper disposal. The features of this project were the raking shores and pile driving, which were implemented for one wall where conventional shoring was not possible.
This 15,000 m3 excavation and shoring project was completed for Marcon Construction in 2015. Though the site proved difficult, Hall was able to work with the Owner to deliver the excavation on time. Extra measures were taken to ensure that the neighboring creek was protected and that silt from the excavation was diverted away from the waterway. Hall also used it's ocean dumping facility to provide the most economic soil disposal option on this project.
Hall Constructors completed this excavation and shoring project for Metro-Can Construction in 2014. The final 4 storey building was a significant upgrade to the community, adding commercial shops to the main floor, with residential units above. Hall was able to excavate through the bedrock at the bottom of the excavation and used ocean disposal for the clean soil to maintain the project schedule.
This excavation and shoring project had the unique challenge of being located next to a BC Hydro substation, which resulted in a extensive network of underground high voltage conduits. Hall Constructions worked closely with Axiom Builders and the geotechnical engineer to locate all underground utilities and come up with a shoring design that allowed the excavation to proceed without damaging any conduits.
This project consisted of an approximate 14,600 m3 Bulk & Detailed Excavation including Shotcrete & Anchor shoring system. The challenge for this project was working very near sensitive utilities including several 600 KVolt lines and associated vaults. Extra caution was necessary but also ensuring the project was completed as scheduled.
Hall Constructors completed the excavation & shoring, as well as the offsite civil work on this townhouse project for Marcon Construction. Due to limited working space in this residential neighbourhood, Hall worked with the Owner on phasing the work in order to facilitate the construction of the building once it was at grade.
Hall Constructors completed both the excavation and civil work for Marcon Construction on this project. Though the excavation was only 10,000 m3, it was completed on schedule and on budget. The civil work will be completed later in the year, once the building has been finished. The completion of this project is meaningful, as it will provide independent, affordable living for members of the Semiahmoo House Society and the local community.
Hall Constructors completed this 13,000 m3 excavation for Metro-Can Construction in North Vancouver. Contaminated soil was identified at the outset, and Hall worked through the remediation process with the Owner to minimze costs and delays. Though the ground conditions were difficult and the access was very limited, Hall completed the bulk excavation, shoring and detail excavation for a successful handover to the form work contractor.
Construction started in January 2012. The Sesame is a new East Vancouver residential development by Marcon Construction Ltd. Hall Constructors was responsible for the excavation, shoring and mechanical trenching of the four storey wood frame structure with two levels underground parkade. The excavation of 200m3 of bed rocks and the traffic management of adjacent shopping center traffic were some of the challenges we faced during this project. The total excavation volume was approximately 16,000m3 and was completed in May 2012.
This 14,000 m3 excavation & shoring job for Marcon Construction was completed on schedule and on budget in 2015 by utilizing their ocean disposal facility. Special care was taken to retain and underpin a heritage building on the corner of the site.
