The Oakridge Offsite Civil Utilities project is a comprehensive utility upgrade package that will prepare Vancouver's infrastructure to handle the demands of the 7x high rise towers beings built on the Oakridge Mall property.

John Hindle Drive is a Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure project that is also partially funded by the City of Kelowna and the University of British Columbia. Scope of work includes construction of a new 1.8 km roadway that connects the Glenmore Landfill with UBC Okanagan as well as a 2.8 km separated bike pathway parallel to the roadway alignment. Total excavation quantities amount to 147,000 m3 of cut to fill. Utility upgrades include 500mm and 300mm water main connections, as well as Fortis Gas distribution, Fortis Electric, Telus and Shaw fibreoptic.
Hall Constructors is completing the offsite civil work on this project for Townline Construction. The work includes new Hydro, Telus, Shaw, street lighting and municipal service connections for the building, as well as sidewalk and road upgrades for the surrounding streets.
Hall Constructors is completing the offsite civil work on this project for Onni. The work includes new curb, sidewalk and asphalt for the road surrounding the site, as well as extensive BC Hydro, street light and intersection signal upgrades. Hall has worked extensively with the Owner, City and local businesses to ensure that construction is safe and that disruptions are kept to a minimum. This is especially important due to the close proximity of the Lions Gate Hospital, city hall, fire hall, RCMP detachment and surrounding residential buildings.
Hall Constructors is completing this initial phase of offsite civil work for Marcon Construction, which will provide access to Ledingham McAllister's master planned Southgate City. The work will include a new access road, complete with storm, sanitary, water, BC Hydro and street light upgrades as well as a fully signalized intersection at Griffith's Drive.
Supply and installation of a 8 ft diameter fibre-glass sanitary lift station, electrical kiosk, emergency generator, and communication equipment. Challenges with this project included navigating a small site constrained by existing electrical poles and completing commissioning of the lift station in -20C temperatures.
Commercial truckers travelling through the Lower Mainland now have a convenient place to stop and rest, as the $2.8-million Nordel Way truck parking facility was officially opened today by Delta North MLA Scott Hamilton, on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone. “With so much of our economy relying on the movement of goods via truck, this facility is an important addition to our transportation infrastructure,” said Stone. “This is a safe, convenient place where drivers can take a break or grab a rest, and provides a good option for those who would otherwise park on a local street.” The new truck-parking facility is located on Nordel Way at Highway 91 in Delta, across from the Nordel commercial vehicle inspection facility. The facility has room for up to 40 heavy trucks to park overnight and includes lighting, washrooms, garbage cans and a sani-dump. Construction began in August and was complete on Nov 10 2016
Naramata Benchlands Phase 2 is a 42 lot subdivision development on the East side of Okanagan Lake in Naramata, BC. Utility installations include 650m of water and sanitary mains, 800m of sanitary force main, and Fortis Electrical servicing. Road gravels and bedding sand for the project were produced in a neighbouring borrow site and hauled to the new subdivision. Other project quantities include 40,000 m2 of clearing, 25,000 m3 of total excavation and 4,000 m2 of paving.
Storm Culvert work began with the demolition of an existing concrete headwall and box culvert. The inlet structure was replaced by a fibreglass headwall and 1350mm concrete pipe connected to a 3,050mm x 3,050mm box manhole 6m deep. The 1350mm pipe was then extended 100m from the manhole and tied into an existing CMP. Installation of the box manhole proved very difficult due to the extreme wet weather, the underlying wet and soft clay supporting the box manhole and the proximity to the guideway. The Roadwork portion included grading, paving, concrete curb and gutter and street lighting on Aberdeen Avenue. Work on Barnet Highway involved realignment of traffic island to effect the change in traffic pattern entering Aberdeen Avenue.
Apron removal, Utility relocations, mass detailed excavation and gravels. Construction airside presented access and co-ordination issues. Unknown location of underground utilities proved to be a challenge.
